Aftercare

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

You will be sent home with a kit to get you started. You will be supplied with everything you need to aid the entire healing process. If you misplace your kit or need more, they are available at the store or online for purchase.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CARELESSNESS. AFTERCARE IS VITAL TO THE HEALING PROCESS

IMPORTANT: Wash your hands thoroughly before touching or applying anything on your fresh artwork.

Step 1

Keep the bandage on for a minimum of 24 hours. Just as your new tattoo is unique to you, aftercare may also be unique depending on your piece. Some will only require a bandage for 24-48 hours, while other pieces may require up to 4 days. Use these instructions as a guideline, but please follow your artist’s individual protocol for quickest and easiest healing.

NOTE: It is a normal part of the healing process for plasma to weep from your tattoo. Many times the plasma will be colored with excess ink- this is nothing to be alarmed about, it is a normal part of your body’s reaction to the trauma of receiving your artwork.

Step 2

Preferably in the shower and after you’ve washed everything else, allow warm water to run on the covered tattoo. Peel it off from the top down, while keeping the bandage close to the skin as its being peeled off. It will be full of liquid (ink, blood, plasma). Thoroughly wash your hands with VitaliTree® Cleanser. Then wash the tattoo gently with hands only, letting the soap do all the work. Rinse thoroughly. Make sure that your skin feels clean and not greasy.

*If your artist has recommended and supplied another bandage: Place your new (supplied) bandage over the art and make sure it is secure. It is important to use the same style of bandage you were sent home with during the entire healing process.

Step 3

Pat (do NOT rub) the tattoo with a clean towel. Then let the tattoo air dry for approximately 10-15 minutes. Then apply a very light amount of VitaliTree® Cleanser and Vegan Salve. Be sure to rub the salve in like you would lotion. You do not want a layer of salve on your skin, just enough to moisturize the area.

Step 4

Continue use of VitaliTree® Cleanser and Vegan Salve for the next 3 days and until the peeling has stopped. You may use indefinitely for regular moisturizing. Apply a small amount of the VitaliTree® Vegan Salve every time your artwork feels dry. There is no limit to the frequency you can apply this product. Keep your artwork uncovered for the remainder of the healing process.

Thank You!
